MS-IFB/DCP/DPR/2609-1270095/Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP)
The Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP) project is a City of Atlanta initiative to develop a 15-year strategic plan for protecting, managing, and expanding the City’s urban forest and tree canopy. The plan will address Atlanta’s goal of increasing canopy coverage to 50%, reversing recent canopy loss, improving equitable access to trees and nature, and strengthening the City’s approach to tree planting, maintenance, natural-area management, and preservation.
The selected Consultant will conduct urban forest data and condition assessments, review City policies and practices, evaluate staffing and resource needs, and develop actionable recommendations for long-term urban forest management. A major component will be extensive community and stakeholder engagement, including public meetings, surveys, focus groups, Neighborhood Planning Unit presentations, stakeholder interviews, and a neighborhood ambassador program.
The final UFMP will provide specific goals, policies, benchmarks, funding strategies, implementation timelines, responsible parties, and performance measures to guide the City’s urban forestry efforts through 2042. The project is expected to begin in Spring 2027 and must be completed by April 30, 2029.
