How we verify an RFP

Every listing links to the issuing agency's own posting. "Verified N h ago" on an RFP page means we re-read that posting at the source within the last 48 hours and it still matched what we show: title, deadline, documents and status.

Where the data comes from

Federal notices come from SAM.gov's daily extract and API. State and local notices come from each portal's own listing, read directly. We never retype a deadline by hand and we never guess one: a notice without a stated deadline says "No deadline stated".

What "verified" checks

Each open RFP is re-fetched on a schedule (federal every few hours, portals daily). We compare the title, response deadline, Q&A deadline, documents list and status. A difference becomes a change-log entry on the page and, for tracked RFPs, an alert. 7,399 deadline changes were caught this way in the last 30 days.

What "unverified" means

If the source has not answered for more than 48 hours the badge turns to "Unverified · check source". The listing stays up with its last known facts and a link to the posting.

Documents

Where a portal serves documents without a login we fetch and store them, so you can read them here without a portal account. Where a free registration is needed we say so and link to the registration page rather than to a dead download.

Summaries and facts tables

Summaries are generated from the notice and its documents; every fact in the table carries its source (notice, attachment name and page). Anything we could not find says "Not stated" rather than a guess.

Spotted something wrong? Every RFP page has a "Report a problem" form; we look at each report. The coverage page lists every source with its last successful fetch.

Questions

What does Verified mean on an RFP page?

Verified means RFPFinder re-read the posting at the issuing agency's source within the last 48 hours and the title, deadline, documents and status still matched what the page shows.

How many deadline changes does RFPFinder catch?

RFPFinder caught 7,399 deadline changes in the last 30 days. Each one goes into the RFP page's change log and alerts members who track that RFP.

What happens when a source stops answering?

After 48 hours without an answer the badge turns to Unverified · check source. The listing stays up with its last known facts and a link to the original posting.

Does RFPFinder guess missing deadlines?

No. A notice without a stated deadline says No deadline stated, and every fact in the facts table names its source: the notice, or the attachment and page.
