Contractor lookup questions
What is a UEI?
A Unique Entity ID (UEI) is the 12-character identifier SAM.gov assigns to every company that registers to do business with the federal government. It replaced the DUNS number in April 2022, and every federal award record names the recipient's UEI. Paste a UEI into the lookup above to find the vendor it belongs to.
What is a CAGE code?
A Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code is a five-character identifier the Defense Logistics Agency assigns to contractors when they register in SAM.gov. Defense solicitations often ask for it. Award records do not carry CAGE codes, so RFPFinder does not list them yet; SAM.gov's entity search shows a registered company's CAGE code next to its UEI.
How do I look up a government contractor?
Search the company name or UEI above. Each vendor page lists the vendor's awards on RFPFinder, the agencies that bought from it, its NAICS and PSC codes, the contracts that end in the next 12 months and a link to every award record. 12,014 vendors with three or more awards have their own page.
How often is the vendor data updated?
Nightly. Federal awards sync from USAspending.gov and state and local awards from open-data contract registers, then every vendor's totals are rebuilt from the new awards.
Why can a vendor's total be lower than its official figure?
RFPFinder holds federal awards for the agencies and codes behind the notices it lists, plus the state and local registers it reads, not every federal contract ever signed. The totals on a vendor page are the sum of those award records.
Vendor totals add up the award records RFPFinder holds: federal contract awards from USAspending.gov for the agencies and codes behind open notices, and state and local awards from open-data contract registers and purchase-order files. They are not a vendor's complete government revenue, and a register that lists a contract ceiling or repeats a contract can overstate spend. Names are grouped across spellings ("Corp" and "Corporation"); each award links to its source record.
