Cedar Hills Regional Landfill Pilot-Scale Micro-Electrolysis
The pilot-scale ME project, which targets arsenic in industrial wastewater from the methane processing plant located at CHRLF, is part of the overall leachate and lagoon improvements project at CHRLF. The pilot-scale ME technology and treatment system has been selected to pretreat the industrial wastewater stream from the methane processing plant prior to the stream entering the leachate lagoon pretreatment system. The experimental ME technology was developed by the University of Washington (UW) and designed at current scale by WSP USA (WSP).
CHRLF discharges industrial wastewater collected at the landfill to the King County publicly owned treatment works (POTW) in Renton, Washington, under Waste Discharge Permit No. 7842-04 (discharge permit), issued to the County by the King County Industrial Waste (KCIW) program. The Work includes but is not limited to the following features:
- Obtain all permits necessary to perform the Work. 2.
Furnish and installation of ME reactor and platform foundation slab and stairway foundation slab, including all required anchoring. 3. Furnish and installation of pilot-scale ME treatment system equipment, interconnecting piping and valves, and instrumentation.
- Furnish initial bulk chemicals and media. 5.
Installation of site utility hookups to existing onsite power, including underground and above-grade connection points for the pilot system and associated installations. 6. Hydrostatic and leak testing.
- Pre-commissioning, commissioning, inspections, and final system testing.
