RFP 27 20 Sports Strategy Study Green Fee Project

The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) is the state agency responsible for representing the Hawaiian Islands around the world and for holistically managing tourism in Hawaiʻi in a sustainable manner consistent with community desires, economic goals, cultural values, preservation of natural resources, and visitor industry needs.

The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) seeks a qualified consultant to conduct a comprehensive Statewide Sports Tourism Study. The State needs data-driven insights to make data-driven policy and investment decisions regarding sports tourism. To support this effort, the Legislature appropriated funds to conduct a study to better understand both the economic benefits and the public costs associated with sporting events.

Ultimately, this study will be used as a strategic roadmap of sporting events and opportunities the state should pursue. All data, findings, and recommended legislation from this study will be compiled into a final report submitted to HTA no later than March 31, 2027.
