Boone County Jail Fire Alarm Replacement

Released: October 5, 2026 12:00 AM EDT Pre-proposal meeting: October 13, 2026 9:00 AM EDT (mandatory) at 3020 Conrad Lane, Burlington, KY 41005 Questions due (Question Submission Deadline): October 15, 2026 5:00 PM EDT Answers posted by: October 16, 2026 5:00 PM EDT Responses due (Bid Submission Deadline): October 19, 2026 2:00 PM EDT

The Boone County Jail, located at 3020 Conrad Lane in Burlington, KY 41005, is requesting proposals for the replacement of the existing Fire Alarm System. The original system was installed over 20 years ago and is experiencing deficiencies. The upgrade shall include replacing all initiating devices and wiring.

The wiring in laundry and shower areas of the building shall be in conduit. The existing horn strobes and wiring shall remain in place.

The Boone County Jail operates 24/7 and houses over 400 detainees. The fire alarm does not report outside the building. The building is a secure, controlled environment, which necessitates background checks for all contractors working in the building and strict controls on tools used in the building.

Due to the inability to evacuate the building, the fire alarm system includes unique features, including a smoke evacuation system that overrides the roof top HVAC units and fully exhausts a cell block in the event of a fire event. The upgrade/replacement of the fire alarm system will require a phased approach and the simultaneous operation of the old and new fire alarm systems.

NIGP codes: 34016 Fire Alarm Systems, Power Sirens, and Controls; 91132 C.I.P., Fire Alarm System
